Frequently Asked Questions

When do they play?

The season runs from October-March.

When do we get the schedule?

Travel tournaments near and out of town are booked prior to the season start and will be communicated at the time teams are released. District games are scheduled at the season start and rarely are rescheduled outside of weather cancellations. Pick up games and scrimmages are scheduled by coaches and team managers and may be added throughout the season. Practice schedules are released as ice time is coordinated.

Do you provide equipment?

STMAYHA does not provide equipment. Hat Trick Hockey is located attached to the STMA Ice Arena and offers equipment fitting and gear in STMA and NWC approved colors.

Is financial assistance available?

STMAYHA proudly sets aside a budget each year for financial hardship scholarships through our "Shining Knight Fund". Families experiencing hardship may request an application for financial assistance by emailing finance@stmayha.org. Personal information is kept confidential in all financial matters.

What if I miss a payment or can no longer pay?

Payments will be drafted each month automatically. Should the credit card on file expire or be cancelled, it is the members responsibility to update information and ensure successful payment has been submitted. If a payment becomes greater than 30 days late, your skate will be removed from play until the fee is paid or arrangements have been made for a payment plan. Special arrangement requests can be made to finance@stmayha.org.

Who needs a MN Hockey Waiver to play with STMAYHA?

Anyone who does not live within the STMA School District attendance boundaries.

What if my player open enrolls at a school within the STMA School District boundaries, but lives elsewhere?

To participate with STMAYHA, either a MN Hockey School/Mandatory waiver or a MN Hockey Annual/Discretionary waiver is required. Players who played with STMA on a school waiver last season are grandfathered in. New Rule Changes (Starting 2024-25 Season): MN Hockey will no longer issue a school waiver for Mite/U8 age players or Travel players, except for: Players who are age eligible for their first year of squirts/U10 will still qualify for school waivers.
